Mike’s notes

Use Frankfurt's U-Bahn as the city rail layer once you are in town, centered around Hauptwache, Konstablerwache, Willy-Brandt-Platz, and Südbahnhof. The airport train is the S-Bahn.

The airport is S-Bahn/regional rail first. After that, the U-Bahn is useful for hotels, museums south of the river, fairgrounds, and the city neighborhoods that sit outside the tight Bankenviertel/old-town walk.

Use RMVgo or machines for normal tickets. If Frankfurt is one stop in a longer Germany rail trip, check whether a Deutschlandticket covers the local/regional pieces you are actually using.
