The line connects Kiato with Xylokastro, Akrata, Diakopto, and Aigio along the southern shore of the Gulf of Corinth. Trains are timed around the Piraeus to Kiato service, but the journey requires a change at Kiato.

The new standard-gauge extension opened to Aigio in 2020. It replaced only part of the former meter-gauge Peloponnese network and currently ends east of Patras, with a bus connection covering the remaining gap.

Buy a Hellenic Train regional ticket online, in the app, or at an operating office. An OASA contactless bank card is not a fare medium on this line. Current regional tickets have a wider validity window than a reserved Intercity ticket.

Diesel multiple-unit rolling stock provides air-conditioning and broad doors, though toilets and space can be limited compared with an Intercity train. Service runs roughly every three hours, so protect the Kiato connection and check the last departure.

Portable ramps are available for wheelchair boarding, but Hellenic Train recommends 24-hour notice for assistance. Current single-line operation changes which side is used at several stations. The separate Diakopto to Kalavryta rack railway is suspended and should not be treated as an available connection.
