HŽPP Passenger Rail HŽPP Pula to Buzet

The Pula to Buzet line connects Pula and Vodnjan with Kanfanar, Pazin, Lupoglav, and Buzet through inland Istria. Croatia’s Istrian passenger railway is separated from the rest of the national network by the Slovenian border, so there is no direct domestic train from Pula to Zagreb or Rijeka.

The Divača to Pula railway opened in 1876 under Austria-Hungary. The present border left the Croatian section operational inside Istria but disconnected from Croatia’s other domestic passenger routes.

Buy a ticket for a specific train through HŽPP’s website or app, at a station office or machine, or from the conductor. Domestic e-tickets are 10 percent cheaper than the standard station fare, while onboard purchase costs 10 percent more. There is no contactless bank-card tap-in system or gated metro fare. Services normally use diesel regional rolling stock, and engineering work can bring replacement buses. The fleet is not uniform, so climate control and low-floor access should not be assumed for every departure.

Smaller Istrian stations can have low platforms, steps, and no staff. HŽPP asks passengers who need wheelchair or mobility assistance to arrange it at least 24 hours ahead, but the operator’s published mobile-lift list does not include every station on this line.
