Line 2 Stage 1A runs from Evitamiento to Mercado Santa Anita through five underground stations in eastern Lima. Five-station operating segment of the future east-west metro.

The first five stations opened in 2023. The planned extension to central Lima, Callao, and the Line 4 airport branch is still under construction.

Riding the line

Use the ATU interoperable fare card at entry and exit. At the August 2026 check, the ride remained free even though card validation was mandatory.

Current vehicles and ride: Line 1 uses six-car electric trains, including the original Italian fleet and later Alstom Metropolis sets. Line 2 uses six-car, fully automated Hitachi Rail trains behind platform screen doors.

Connections: There is no operating rail interchange between Lines 1 and 2 yet. Line 1 connects with buses and the Metropolitano at street level, while the open part of Line 2 remains east of the center. Future transfer stations on published maps do not count as current connections.

Accessibility: Both lines have step-free routes, lifts, tactile paving, and level or near-level boarding. Lift outages matter because many Line 1 platforms are elevated. Check the operator notice when a lift is essential.

Construction maps show 27 Line 2 stations, but only the five Stage 1A stations are open.
