Lyon's metro is compact, clean, and more interesting than it first looks because Lyon is a hill city. The ordinary lines do the cross-town work. The funiculars and Line C explain the terrain.
The practical payment story is easy now: TCL supports contactless bank-card travel on most central network services, so occasional rides do not require a whole ticketing apprenticeship.
Do not confuse the airport with the metro. Rhônexpress is the airport rail product. The metro is what you use once the city day starts.
