Lyon is a city in France. It is located at the confluence of the rivers Rhône and Saône, to the northwest of the French Alps, 391 km (243 mi) southeast of Paris, 278 km (173 mi) north of Marseille, and 113 km (70 mi) southwest of Geneva, Switzerland.

Lyon takes its claim to be the food capital of France seriously, and the bouchon, the small casual Lyonnais restaurant, is the local proof. A UNESCO old town sits between the two rivers, with the bouchons spread around it.
Lyon Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) sits about 25 km east of the center. The Rhônexpress dedicated tram is the cleanest path in, with rideshare as the easier-with-luggage alternative.

The Lyon Metro is the clean city backbone once you are in town: Vieux Lyon/Fourvière connections, Presqu'île, Part-Dieu, Croix-Rousse edges, and the everyday station-to-neighborhood hops. The airport is Rhônexpress, not the metro.
Lyon has one expensive event, the Festival of Lights, plus a strong summer arts calendar.

Lyon food is the bouchon side: pork-heavy, butter-heavy, regional, served in small wood-panelled rooms with paper menus.
