Mike’s notes
VLT de Sobral serves Sobral. VLT de Sobral is a compact local network with North and South lines. Campo dos Velhos is the shared station and the place to change branches.
The Sobral VLT opened in 2014 on a mixture of reused railway and new urban track. It gives a midsize inland city a rail service rarely found in Brazil at this scale.
Riding the network
Use Metrofor’s current Sobral fare process. Check the published schedule because midday and evening gaps can be substantial.
Current rolling stock and ride conditions: Diesel light-rail cars run as short sets on surface track. The service is closer to a local railway than a high-frequency tram.
The North Line links Novo Recanto and Cohab III. The South Line links Sumaré and Cohab II, with the transfer at Campo dos Velhos.
Accessibility: Most stations are small surface stops. Platform access varies and should be confirmed when assistance is required.
The line names describe two service patterns, not separate networks with frequent timed transfers.
Check VLT de Sobral for the dated operating notice before a time-sensitive trip.
