Mike’s notes
Nuremberg's U-Bahn is pleasantly simple: compact city, useful rail, and a direct U2 airport line. That last part is the kind of small-city convenience you remember after larger airports make you work harder.
For a visitor, use it for the Hauptbahnhof, old-town edge, airport, and hotel locations outside the walls. Once you are in the old town, walk.
Ticketing is VGN/VAG logic. App or machine is easy. Deutschlandticket matters if Nuremberg is part of a longer German local-rail trip.
