The Posadas–Encarnación shuttle has only two passenger stops. The train crosses the Paraná River in eight minutes, but immigration and customs at the terminals make the complete border crossing longer.

The present shuttle began service in 2014 over the San Roque González de Santa Cruz bridge. Casimiro Zbikoski operates it under an agreement with Trenes Argentinos.

Tickets are sold at both terminals. Posadas accepts cash, cards, and SUBE Misionera. Encarnación accepts Argentine pesos or Paraguayan guaraníes in cash. Carry a valid document accepted for the border crossing.

The current rolling stock is a compact diesel railcar with simple seating. The published timetable runs every 30 minutes Monday through Saturday, from morning into early evening. The border may remain open after rail service ends, so do not use the crossing's road hours as the train schedule.

Border procedures apply even though the ride is short. Travelers with minors need documents proving the relationship or the required travel authorization. Goods bought across the border still go through customs. Domestic pensioner and disability discounts do not apply to this international fare. Wheelchair users should confirm boarding assistance before arrival.
