Riding the line

Contactless bank cards and accepted local fare products work at the gates. Use the same payment medium for a clean record of the trip.

Current rolling stock and ride conditions: Air-conditioned electric trains run underground except for parts of Line 2. Peak trains are crowded, and cars can fill before they reach the central transfer section.

General Osório is marked as an interchange in the network data. Central connects with TrensRJ and the VLT. Carioca and Cinelândia connect with downtown destinations, while General Osório and Jardim Oceânico anchor the South Zone and Barra ends.

Accessibility: Most stations have lifts, but the route from street to platform is not equally direct everywhere. Check lift status when it matters.

Line 2 may run through to Botafogo or use a different central endpoint depending on the day and operating plan.

Check Rio de Janeiro Metro for the current timetable and operating notices.
