Salta's regional railway forms an 87 km corridor from Güemes through the provincial capital to Campo Quijano. The operator presents it as one route, but the current timetable divides it at Salta. There is no scheduled one-seat trip across the complete line.
Passenger service between Salta and Güemes began on June 27, 2012. The western section reopened on July 9, 2021, returning trains to Campo Quijano after 51 years. That project restored 41 kilometers and added Pacto de los Cerrillos and Combate de Rosario de Lerma as intermediate stops.
Campo Quijano sits at the lower end of Ramal C14, before the railway begins its climb through the Quebrada del Toro. The regional train ends there. It does not continue to San Antonio de los Cobres or onto the tourist Tren a las Nubes.
Most departures require a reservation through the Reservá tu tren app or website up to 24 hours before travel. The current operator page exempts the single weekday train in each direction between Salta and Campo Quijano. Carry DNI, then pay at an enabled ticket office with cash or SAETA. Stations recharge SAETA but do not sell the plastic card.
Diesel railcars provide basic regional seating. Station access and platform height vary, and the operator does not publish a complete accessibility inventory. Assistance and the reservation rule should be confirmed for the exact departure.
