Mike’s notes
The daily train from Pristina to Skopje is the only current international passenger railway in Kosovo's published timetable. It runs through Fushë Kosovë, Lipjan, Ferizaj, Kaçanik, and Hani i Elezit before crossing into North Macedonia.
The railway through the Kosovo plain opened in 1874 as part of the route from Thessaloniki to Mitrovica. Today's border service uses that old north-south corridor for the short international link between the two capitals.
Train 891 leaves Prishtina in the morning and reaches Skopje before 10. Train 892 returns from Skopje in the late afternoon. The exact minutes can change with a timetable revision or railway work, so check the operator's current sheet before building a connection around it.
Tickets and the border
Trainkos publishes domestic fares but does not offer a normal online booking link for the through trip. Buy the international ticket through the railway. Keep a passport or other accepted border document available because the train crosses an international frontier.
What the ride is like
This is a slow conventional train using aging rolling stock rather than a modern high-speed connection. The scenery tightens around Kaçanik before the line reaches the border at Hani i Elezit. Bring water and food because onboard catering is not promised.
Trainkos does not publish a step-free guarantee or a detailed assistance procedure for the service. Confirm boarding arrangements at both ends if stairs, low platforms, or wheelchair access affect the trip.
