Mike’s notes
The Tren Ecológico de la Selva is the internal railway at the Argentine side of Iguazú Falls. It connects the park entrance area with the upper and lower circuits at Estación Cataratas and the trail to Garganta del Diablo at Estación Garganta.
The train uses electric or LPG locomotives and open-sided cars. In January 2026, the operator added three CTY12/6GP battery-electric locomotives built by Hunan Shaoli Group Electric. Their operating speed is 10 km/h, which suits a railway designed to move visitors through protected forest without a continuous road shuttle.
Travel is included with general admission. Collect a free train boarding ticket at the Patio de Servicios or Estación Cataratas. Screens at each station show the next departure, and trains run more frequently during busy periods.
The published daily schedule currently begins around 08:20. The last outward train is at 15:30 and the last return from Garganta is at 17:30. A major flood damaged track and facilities near Garganta in 2023, and the repaired circuit reopened in July 2024. River conditions can still close the walkway independently of the railway, so check the park alerts before entering.
Wheelchairs and strollers can board the train. The stations have adapted toilets, drinking water, and wheelchairs, but the trails beyond each station have their own access conditions.
