Tren Ecológico de la Selva Central–Garganta del Diablo

The Central to Garganta line links all three stations on the Tren Ecológico de la Selva. Estación Central serves the entrance and visitor complex, Estación Cataratas serves the upper and lower circuits, and Estación Garganta leads to the Garganta del Diablo walkway.

The railway was built as low-impact transportation inside the national park. The rolling stock uses electric or LPG locomotives with open-sided passenger seating, avoiding a continuous road shuttle through this section of forest. Three CTY12/6GP battery-electric locomotives joined the fleet in January 2026 and operate at up to 10 km/h.

The ride is included with park admission, but it still uses a free boarding ticket. Collect one at the Patio de Servicios or Estación Cataratas and use the station screens for the next departure. Busy-period trains can fill before their nominal departure time.

Current service runs daily from about 08:20, with the last outward trip at 15:30 and the final return from Garganta at 17:30. A 2023 flood damaged a section of railway and the Garganta facilities before repairs reopened the circuit in July 2024. Weather and river levels can affect the walkway independently of the train.

Wheelchairs and strollers are accepted aboard. Adapted toilets and wheelchair service are available at the stations. Check the separate trail conditions before deciding where to leave the train.
