Tren Solar de la Quebrada Volcán–Tilcara Solar Train

The Volcán to Tilcara Solar Train runs for 42 km through Jujuy's Quebrada de Humahuaca. Its six stops are Volcán, Tumbaya, Purmamarca, Posta de Hornillos, Maimará, and Tilcara. The operator packages the line as guided full-day and shorter return experiences rather than a commuter timetable.

The line reopened to public passengers on June 18, 2024 after three decades without trains on this part of the former Belgrano Line C. Jujuy rebuilt the railway and restored its stations for the new service. Posta de Hornillos opened as an additional boarding point on May 2, 2025.

The current rolling stock consists of two CRRC Tangshan two-car battery trainsets. They divide operations at Purmamarca, with one working the southern section toward Volcán and the other the northern section toward Tilcara. Each 600 kWh unit has 70 seats, panoramic windows, charging points, and an official range of 100 to 120 kilometers.

Tickets are sold through the Tren Solar website, WhatsApp, and station offices. Cash, cards, QR, and payment links are accepted. The 360 ticket and shorter 180 products have different boarding and stopping rules. The baggage limit is one small bag up to 3 kilograms, and only one 500 ml bottle of water may be brought aboard.

Reduced-mobility accommodations are available with advance notice. The operator limits free disability-certificate reservations to one place per service and requires those reservations at least 30 days ahead.
