Bogotá to Zipaquirá heritage train runs from Gran Estación platform to Estación de Zipaquirá with 3 cataloged stops. Saturday, Sunday, and public-holiday round trip.

The Northern Railway opened this corridor across the Bogotá savanna in stages around the start of the twentieth century. Restored passenger coaches and classic locomotives keep the line in public use while modern regional rail remains a separate project.

Riding the line

Buy a dated round-trip ticket in advance through Turistren or its official ticket partner. Seats are numbered. Food and Salt Cathedral admission are not included, and one-way tickets are not sold.

Current vehicles and ride: Classic locomotives haul restored 1960s passenger coaches with numbered seating, reclining seats, and toilets in alternating cars. The pace is slow and the railway itself is most of the point.

Neither endpoint should be assumed to include an internal transfer to another railway. Board at the rail platform west of Gran Estación mall or at Estación de Usaquén. The train no longer departs from Estación de La Sabana. In Zipaquirá, the railway station is in town and the Salt Cathedral still requires a walk or local ride.

Accessibility: Heritage coaches and platforms are less straightforward than modern metro boarding. Contact Turistren before booking when a wheelchair lift or boarding assistance is needed.

There is one round trip on Saturdays, Sundays, and Colombian public holidays. Missing the afternoon departure in Zipaquirá means arranging a separate road return.
