Where to stay

I stay in Poblenou on the L4 (yellow) line. It has a direct Metro ride to the old city, restaurants priced for the neighborhood, calmer evenings, and hotel rates about a third lower. You ride the Metro to the main sights instead of walking out the door to them.

Bathrooms stand out: high water pressure, walk-in showers, and bathtubs with a view in the upper-floor rooms. Safe area, on L3 green at Maria Cristina or Palau Reial	Up the Diagonal, away from La Rambla and the old city. Suites are huge rooms with huge bathrooms, not a separate living area, so do not pay for one expecting the usual suite layout
Working stay (Poblenou)	The Social Hub Barcelona Poblenou	Coworking lobby and shared space, good if you want to live in a coworking for a longer stay	Crowded most days, more than I wanted. About 10 minutes' walk to Bac de Roda (L2). The operator currently lists the entrance at Carrer de Fluvià 102, separate from the Cristóbal de Moura street address
Apartment (Poblenou beach)	FeelAtHome Poblenou Beach Apartments	Apartment-style with kitchen and laundry, near Bogatell. On Airbnb in Barcelona

Use a hotel or licensed aparthotel. Barcelona City Council says holiday-let licences will be withdrawn by 2028, and I do not build trips here around apartment listings. Durlet and FeelAtHome in Poblenou cover the kitchen-and-laundry case without turning the stay into an Airbnb problem.

Fira only for an early flight

Hotels are cheaper, airport access is easier, and transit to central Barcelona is slow. Use this side of town for a 6 a.m. flight, a Fira day, or a loyalty price that leaves room for taxis. Do not treat it as a normal Barcelona base.

Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel	Where I stay the night before an early flight, and often well-priced on Marriott points. It's a Jean Nouvel building: two towers joined by a full-height atrium with greenery planted up nearly every level, so the interior reads as a stack of hanging gardens. Breakfast is good and free with Marriott status	Central Barcelona is a hike, but the metro stop is right there
Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower	Great when it prices around €100/night: nice rooms, frequent Globalist suite upgrades, upper-floor views, a massive lounge, and a surreal top-floor bar/club	At €200 to €300 I would rather stay in town. Lounge food is mediocre for Barcelona, and you will pay €10 to €15 each way for a taxi to the center, Poblenou, or a beach

Short taxi to the airport from either. Walking is not a real option (Gran Via is an industrial road). For city sights, ride the metro in or book a city hotel.
