The Aloft Montevideo is in the right place in Montevideo: Punta Carretas, across from the shopping mall, a block from Starbucks, and surrounded by some of the better restaurants in the city.
I would soften this to four stars. The rooms are okay and practical, but basic, which is fair because it is an Aloft. The sunsets from a high floor are still the best part. As the nicest Marriott option in Uruguay, though, it is a little underwhelming. Staff were friendly and the location is still the reason to stay here.

A well-located Punta Carretas Aloft across from the mall and near some of Montevideo's better restaurants. The rooms are okay and practical, especially with a high-floor sunset view, but as the nicest Marriott option in the country it is still a little underwhelming.
