Mike's stay

Visited 2026

I would give the Andaz San Diego three stars. The room had the strangest chemical smell, which is hard to get past no matter how nice the suite layout is. The restaurant also nickel-and-dimes you with awkward fees; it is already expensive, so I would rather they just pay the wages and wrap the real cost into the menu prices. The location is central in the Gaslamp, but the street scene right outside is rough enough that you can end up walking through homeless camps to get in and out. It works on paper, but the actual stay was off-putting.

From the source

A central Gaslamp hotel with a nice suite layout, but the stay was dragged down by a chemical room smell, awkward restaurant fees, and a rough street scene immediately outside.
