My favorite of the three. Prices are still reasonable, it's rarely crowded, and the building does more with the original materials than Stone or Ballast Point do. Stone had to keep the Spanish Colonial Revival character intact, which is a different kind of preservation. The bakery here let Mission actually re-use materials in new forms. The Sinclair Collection set into the brewhouse floor is the clearest example. One real caveat: the surrounding East Village blocks have a visible homeless population, and the walk back at night is the part I would not do alone if I were a woman. Park close, or rideshare.
In the 1924 brick Wonder Bread Building at the corner of 14th and L in East Village. Original wood bow trusses, rooftop monitors, and the flour silo are intact and in use. The brewhouse floor is set with the Sinclair Collection of salvaged East Village manhole covers and granite paving blocks. Across from Petco Park.
Other pins within walking distance of Mission Brewery.
