Arthur Head Reserve

Arthur Head is the limestone headland between Fremantle’s West End and Bathers Beach. The Round House stands at the top, the Whalers Tunnel cuts through the rock below it, and former port buildings along Captains Lane and J Shed now hold artist studios. The compact layout makes the early prison, harbor and shoreline easy to read in one walk.

The reserve also forms part of the Manjaree Trail, which explains the area’s long importance as a Whadjuk trading and family gathering place. Public paths are free and remain open beyond the hours of the Round House and studios. Fremantle Station is about a ten-minute walk away.
