Estação Júlio Prestes
Sao Paulo, Brazil
About
Júlio Prestes is the terminal for Line 8 and the monumental home of Sala São Paulo. Christiano Stockler das Neves designed the complex in 1925 for the Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana. It opened in 1930 and was completed later in the decade, with architecture based on the grand American terminals of the period.
The station was fully restored again in 2026. Commuter platforms still handle daily service while the former main hall forms part of the concert complex. It is federally, state, and municipally protected, which makes it one of the rare stations where the transport and architecture are equally important.
