Fundació Joan Miró opened in 1975 in a purpose-built museum by Josep Lluís Sert. The white concrete building uses courtyards, terraces, roof lights, and connected galleries to bring daylight into the collection. It holds Miró’s paintings, sculpture, textiles, and works on paper, along with Alexander Calder’s Mercury Fountain. The museum and its sculpture spaces sit on the eastern slope of Montjuïc.
