One of my favorite bars in Barcelona, and not because the food is special. Salts sits above Piscina Municipal de Montjuïc, so you drink on the terrace above the old Olympic diving pool with the city spread out below. I usually walk up toward Montjuïc Castle, loop around, then stop here on the way back down.

The pool opened in 1929 and was rebuilt for the 1992 Olympics, when it hosted diving and preliminary water polo. The current two-pool setup comes from that Olympic renovation, which is why the place still feels like a sports venue even when you are just there for a beer.

Order a drink, maybe a snack, and keep expectations right. The food is basic and not winning awards, but the setting is excellent: pool below, Barcelona in front of you, and enough seating in the stands that you do not have to wait forever for a terrace table. Sunset can get crowded, so arrive earlier if you want a proper table.
