Kasprowy Wierch Cable Car

Zakopane, Poland

About

The only lift in the Polish Tatras reaching above the treeline to a true high-alpine summit, 1,987 meters, without a multi-hour hike. The ride from Kuźnice takes about 15 minutes with a cabin change partway up at Myślenickie Turnie. From the upper station, views run 360 degrees over the Zakopane valley on the Polish side and into the High Tatras of Slovakia. It is also the trailhead for the red-blazed ridge route toward Świnica, a roughly 4.5 km scramble with real exposure but no technical gear needed, and for a gentler yellow-trail descent into Hala Gąsienicowa. Runs essentially year round. Scheduled maintenance closures fall in spring and autumn, outside the summer season.
