The National Museum's Main Building is the big modernist block facing Błonia. Construction began in the 1930s, was interrupted by war and politics, and was not finished until 1989. Its permanent galleries cover Polish art of the 20th and 21st centuries, decorative arts and European art, alongside temporary exhibitions. Tuesday admission to the permanent galleries is free. the museum is closed Monday.
