Ospedale SS. Giovanni e Paolo Pronto Soccorso

Mike's review

This is admittedly a weird tourist stop, but I liked wandering the public parts of the hospital complex. It is free unless you actually need medical help, and you can see the hospital cats, the ambulance boats, and a quieter slice of Venice without getting run over by tour groups. Stay out of the wards and be respectful, obviously.

From the source

Ospedale SS. Giovanni e Paolo is Venice's civic hospital near Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, but it also works as a strange little offbeat stop if you stick to the public areas. Cats hang around the grounds, ambulance boats come and go, and the surrounding canals are a quiet break from the usual Venice crowd crush.
