Visited 2021The Trevi Fountain is one of those bucket-list places that is going to be crowded, much like Disney. I still can't imagine going to Rome and skipping it. Watch your pockets here. The density of the crowd gives pickpockets plenty of cover.

Trevi Fountain covers the rear facade of Palazzo Poli at the end of the ancient Aqua Virgo aqueduct. Nicola Salvi designed the present fountain in 1732, and Giuseppe Pannini completed it in 1762. Water crosses an artificial rock ledge below the central figure of Oceanus before collecting in the broad street-level basin.
Since February 2026, nonresidents pay EUR 2 to enter the controlled area nearest the basin between 09:00 and 22:00. Tickets are sold through the official site and at the entrance by card. The fountain remains visible from outside the controlled area without entering the basin zone.
