Vltava River
Prague, Czechia
About
The Vltava runs through central Prague beneath Charles Bridge and between the historic districts on both banks. Thirteen islands break up the channel within the city. Kampa, Střelecký Island and Slovanský Island add parks, paths and cultural venues directly beside the water.
Public embankments connect the National Theatre, Dancing House, Old Town and the bridge approaches, with views toward Prague Castle on the west bank. The riverfront and most public islands are free to explore, although individual venues keep separate hours. Sightseeing cruises depart from several docks, and their routes and fares vary by operator.
