Belgrano Norte Line Belgrano Norte: Retiro–Villa Rosa

The Belgrano Norte Retiro to Villa Rosa branch connects central Buenos Aires with Ciudad Universitaria and a long run through the northern suburbs. Use it for places along the Munro, Boulogne, Don Torcuato, and Los Polvorines corridor, not the riverfront route served by the Mitre line.

The railway began as part of the metre-gauge Central Córdoba system. Its extension into Retiro opened in 1912, giving the line the city terminal it still uses. Ferrovías has operated the commuter service since the 1990s.

Pay the fare with a physical or digital SUBE and tap where validators are provided. The service has many closely spaced stops and gets crowded during the commute. Check Ferrovías before leaving because engineering work can change the stopping pattern or shorten trains at the outer end.

Diesel locomotives pull conventional passenger coaches. They are functional commuter trains, but do not assume air-conditioning or the quieter ride of the electric Mitre branches. Retiro and several rebuilt stations have ramps or raised platforms, while wheelchair access and platform gaps remain inconsistent across the full route.
