Belgrano Sur Line Belgrano Sur: Sáenz–González Catán

The Belgrano Sur Sáenz to González Catán branch connects the temporary city terminal at Doctor Antonio Sáenz with Villa Lugano, Tapiales, Laferrere, and González Catán. It is a practical southwest suburban line rather than a route most visitors will use for sightseeing.

This branch opened as part of the early twentieth-century Compañía General railway. It became part of the national Belgrano network after the railways were nationalized in 1948. The present service still uses metre-gauge track, which is narrower than the broad-gauge Roca and Sarmiento lines.

Use SUBE for the fare and tap at both ends where validators are available. Sáenz is the current city-end station, so check the official Belgrano Sur page instead of assuming the train reaches Constitución or another central terminal. Trains are busiest around the workday commute.

Regular service uses diesel multiple units with air-conditioned interiors. Rebuilt urban stations have raised platforms, but wheelchair access and platform gaps are not consistent at every stop. González Catán is also the interchange for the much thinner service toward Lozano.
