The Roca Cañuelas to Lobos branch connects Cañuelas with Uribelarrea, Empalme Lobos, and Lobos. It can support a countryside day trip, but the sparse schedule requires more planning than the suburban network closer to Buenos Aires.
The branch opened under the Buenos Aires Great Southern Railway as part of its nineteenth-century expansion across the province. It entered the Roca network after nationalization in 1948. Local passenger service now covers only a small part of the railway that once radiated much farther through the region.
Use SUBE for the fare where validators are available and verify every connection before leaving. Travel from Constitución normally means changing from the electric network to diesel service on the way to Cañuelas, then following the separate Lobos timetable.
Diesel rolling stock operates the branch, with limited seating and fewer passenger facilities than the main electric trains. Rural station platforms and wheelchair access vary considerably. Confirm assistance in advance and do not count on a quick replacement departure if a train is missed.
