Sarmiento Line Sarmiento: Moreno–Mercedes

The Sarmiento Moreno to Mercedes branch connects the end of the electric commuter line with General Rodríguez, Luján, Olivera, Gowland, and Mercedes. Change at Moreno for trains to or from Once.

The Western Railway extended beyond Moreno in the 1860s and opened service to Mercedes as it pushed across Buenos Aires Province. The corridor became part of the Sarmiento line after nationalization in 1948. It remains an important rail link to Luján even though service is thinner than on the inner branch.

Use SUBE for the fare and build the trip around the current diesel timetable. Not every electric arrival at Moreno makes a quick connection, and missing an outer train can mean a substantial wait. Check service notices before relying on the branch for a timed appointment.

Diesel rolling stock operates west of Moreno instead of the air-conditioned electric fleet used toward Once. The ride is slower, seating is more limited, and station facilities become simpler farther from the city. Wheelchair access and high platforms are inconsistent, so confirm boarding assistance in advance when needed.
