T1 connects Zeleno polje in eastern Osijek with Tvrđa, Trg Ante Starčevića, Retfala, and Višnjevac in the west. It is the main cross-city tram and the more useful of the two lines for the historic center.
Osijek’s first horse tram opened in 1884 on the city corridor between the upper town, Tvrđa, and lower town. Electric operation began in 1926, and today’s T1 preserves that east-west role while extending much farther to Zeleno polje and Višnjevac.
A first-zone single ticket costs €1.46, the Butra stored-value fare is €1.06, and a daily ticket costs €4.65. Smartica sells mobile tickets, but an ordinary contactless bank card cannot be used as a tap-in fare. Validate the selected paper, card, or mobile product.
The fleet now includes ten climate-controlled Končar TMK 2500 low-floor trams alongside older high-floor cars. T1 crosses the busiest central streets and can be crowded around Tvrđa and Trg Ante Starčevića.
Low-floor vehicles are wheelchair accessible, but not every departure uses one and stop design varies. Watch road traffic at street-running stops, particularly when crossing between the pavement and a stop island.
GPP’s 2026 network map confirms the current T1 route.
