The Rosario–Cañada de Gómez regional railway crossed the western edge of Rosario and linked a chain of towns along the Mitre main line. It was most useful as a commuter connection for Funes, Roldán, Carcarañá, Correa, and Cañada de Gómez rather than as another way to reach Buenos Aires.
Passenger trains returned on August 5, 2022 after a 45-year gap. The restoration included track repairs, new sleepers, work at level crossings, and reopened platforms. The operating train had a locomotive, three long-distance coaches, and a generator car with seating for 216 passengers.
The revival did not last. Trenes Argentinos canceled the service after its final runs in November 2024. The official page still describes the corridor and its old 2-hour 6-minute journey, but it does not provide a current timetable. A ticket link on that page is not evidence that a train is running.
The route remains mapped because it is part of the officially documented passenger network and could be restored again. For now, use road transport between these towns. Platform access varied while the train operated, and there is no current assistance process to rely on.
