Santiago Metro Santiago Metro Line 4A

Line 4A is a six-station connector between Vicuña Mackenna and La Cisterna. It follows the southern Américo Vespucio corridor and does not enter central Santiago.

The line opened in 2006 as the orbital companion to Line 4. Its job is to connect the southeast with Line 2 without sending every trip through Tobalaba and the center.

Vicuña Mackenna connects with Line 4. La Cisterna connects with Line 2 and a large bus interchange. There are no other Metro transfers along the route.

The compact fleet and platforms are smaller than those on the main trunk lines. There is limited space when a busy Line 2 or Line 4 train feeds the branch, so let passengers leave before boarding. Check the terminal name because both directions begin with an interchange.

The standard integrated Metro fare applies. A trip continuing downtown remains inside the paid area at either transfer.

Stations have accessible routes, though the surrounding ring road can make street access less direct. Use the signed station entrance rather than crossing express lanes informally.
