Santiago Metro Santiago Metro Line 4

Line 4 links Tobalaba with Plaza de Puente Alto through the southeast of Santiago. It serves the office district near Line 1, Plaza Egaña, La Florida, and the center of Puente Alto.

The line opened in 2005. Its mix of underground, surface, and elevated sections reflects the different urban corridors it follows between Providencia and Puente Alto.

Tobalaba connects with Line 1, Plaza Egaña with Line 3, and Vicuña Mackenna with Line 4A. The transfer at Tobalaba is busy and can take several minutes from platform to platform.

The Puente Alto end has heavy commuter demand in the morning and evening. Keep the destination in view because operational changes can turn trains before the advertised terminal.

The steel-wheel fleet serves high platforms and is built for short urban trips, with more standing than luggage space. Crowding is sharpest toward Tobalaba in the morning and toward Puente Alto in the evening.

Use the integrated Metro fare. Line 4A is a separate branch across the southern ring road, not a continuation toward downtown.

Accessible routes exist at the stations, but some surface approaches involve broad roads and long crossings. Follow signed crossings instead of the shortest line shown by a map.
