Santiago Metro Santiago Metro Line 1

Line 1 is Santiago's main east-west Metro route. It follows Alameda through the historic center, then continues below Providencia and Apoquindo to Los Dominicos.

The line opened in 1975 and contains the oldest part of the network. It remains the most direct railway for La Moneda, the central business district, Providencia, and the office corridor around El Golf.

San Pablo connects with Line 5. Los Héroes connects with Line 2, Baquedano with Line 5, Tobalaba with Line 4, and Los Leones with Line 6. Estación Central is beside EFE's Alameda terminal for trains to Nos, Rancagua, San Fernando, and Chillán.

Trains are busiest during commuter peaks and through the central section. Boarding one train later can be easier than forcing into a full car. Keep bags controlled around doors and on crowded platforms.

Use a bip! card or a currently supported Red payment method. The airport has no Metro station. Airport buses commonly connect near Pajaritos or Los Héroes, depending on the operator.

Older Line 1 stations have been retrofitted at different times. Check Metro's accessibility status if a working lift is essential, since the accessible entrance may be across the avenue from the most obvious stairs.
