Santiago Metro Santiago Metro Line 3

Line 3 runs from Plaza Quilicura through the northern districts and historic center to Fernando Castillo Velasco in La Reina. It is a useful alternative to Line 1 for crossing central Santiago.

The line opened in 2019, reviving a number that had appeared in early Metro plans but was not built with the original network. The extension to Plaza Quilicura opened in 2023.

Plaza de Armas connects with Line 5, Universidad de Chile with Line 1, Ñuñoa with Line 6, and Plaza Egaña with Line 4. Cal y Canto connects with Line 2.

The air-conditioned trains are driverless, and platforms have screen doors. The open interiors have space around the doors, but the downtown section still gets crowded at commuter hours. Station entrances can sit a block apart around large intersections, so follow the line and direction signs before descending.

Payment is integrated with Metro and Red buses. There is no separate ticket for an interchange made inside the paid area.

Line 3 was built with lifts and step-free routes throughout. A lift outage can still break that route, and Metro posts current accessibility notices.
