Kosovo has much less passenger rail than its track map suggests. The operating network in the official 2026 timetable is two corridors from Prishtina. One runs west through Fushë Kosovë and Klinë to Peja. The other runs south through Ferizaj and Kaçanik, crosses at Hani i Elezit, and continues to Skopje in North Macedonia.
The Peja corridor has two trains in each direction every day. The Skopje corridor has one through train in each direction. That is enough to make either trip possible, but not enough frequency to improvise after a missed departure. Check the operator's timetable on the day of travel.
Tickets and payment
Trainkos publishes fares in euros. Its current table lists Prishtina to Peja at €3 one way and Prishtina to Hani i Elezit at €2.50. The operator does not advertise contactless tap-in or a normal online booking flow for these trains. Carry euros and use the station ticket office when it is open.
Trains and accessibility
Passenger service uses a small fleet with locomotive-hauled coaches. The operator's 2026 business plan describes limited available rolling stock and vehicles that need further technical work. Do not assume air conditioning, low-floor boarding, power outlets, or a restaurant.
The official timetable does not identify step-free departures or publish a detailed assistance process. Platforms and access conditions vary. Contact Trainkos before travel when wheelchair boarding or station assistance is required.
