Tren Araucanía Tren Araucanía: Victoria–Temuco

The Victoria-Temuco line runs 65 km through Púa, Perquenco, Quíllem, Lautaro, Pillanlelbún, and Cajón. It is the daily northern half of Tren Araucanía.

The railway opened to Temuco in 1893 and made the city a locomotive-change and maintenance center. Modern regional trains now use the same north-south corridor for local travel.

Temuco is the transfer for trains to Padre Las Casas, Freire, and Pitrufquén. Instituto Claret is a weekday school stop and is not served like an ordinary all-day station.

Service runs every day, but weekend frequencies and hours differ from weekdays. Read the station-by-station schedule for small stops.

The current regional fleet entered service in 2021 with climate control, Wi-Fi, information screens, cameras, an accessible toilet, and space for passengers with reduced mobility. It is comfortable for the regional distance, though school and commuter runs can be crowded.

Temuco and Victoria have the most complete station facilities. Newer halts have raised step-free platforms, while some older stops retain simpler approaches. Arrange wheelchair assistance ahead of travel when a small stop is involved.
