Tren Expreso Rionegrino Ingeniero Jacobacci–Bariloche TER

The Ingeniero Jacobacci to Bariloche TER runs 195 kilometers across western Río Negro. Trains board passengers at Clemente Onelli, Comallo, and Pilcaniyeu before reaching San Carlos de Bariloche. Perito Moreno and Ñirihuau appear in the timetable only as passing points.

These tracks form the western end of the Viedma to Bariloche railway, which opened throughout in 1934. Río Negro provincialized the railway in 1993 when national service was ending. The TER keeps a local connection on the same corridor used by the much longer Tren Patagónico.

The current railcar returned on June 2, 2026 after its Scania engine, drivetrain, brakes, safety systems, and wheel discs were overhauled in San Antonio Oeste. The work explains the service gap immediately before the current timetable.

Tickets are sold online and at Ingeniero Jacobacci or Bariloche station. Tuesday and Thursday trains leave Jacobacci at 4:00, arrive in Bariloche at 8:40, and return at 17:00. This is a reserved fare, not contactless payment at the platform, and there is no daily backup train.

The diesel railcar seats 144 passengers and has heating and air conditioning, audiovisual equipment, and cafe service. One bag up to 10 kilograms is included. The operator does not publish a station-by-station accessibility guide, so wheelchair boarding or other assistance should be arranged before purchase.
