The Llanquihue-Puerto Montt line has four stops: Llanquihue, Puerto Varas, Alerce, and Puerto Montt at La Paloma. The complete trip takes about 37 minutes.

The service opened in April 2025, returning passenger trains to Puerto Montt after eighteen years. Track and stations were rehabilitated for a practical regional service rather than a tourist excursion.

La Paloma is on the upper side of Puerto Montt, about two kilometers from the center. Feeder buses handle the final urban connection. It is not a waterfront terminal.

The base schedule runs on weekdays. Summer Saturday trains have operated as an added program, but weekend service should be verified for the travel date.

The regional railcar has climate control, wide doors, passenger information, and space for passengers with reduced mobility. The interior is arranged for a short commuter trip rather than reserved seating or long-distance luggage.

Payment is electronic through onboard validators. Check the accepted card or bank payment and fare before boarding at an unstaffed stop.

The trains and platforms provide accessible boarding. Puerto Varas uses a historic railway setting, while Alerce is a modern station built around present-day commuter demand.
