Zagreb Tram 17

Line 17 currently connects Prečko, Vrbani, Jarun, and Trešnjevka with Trg Republike Hrvatske, Trg bana Jelačića, and Trg žrtava fašizma. Its usual eastern continuation to Borongaj is suspended during reconstruction, with ZET bus 602 covering the closed section.

Zagreb’s tramway opened with horse cars in 1891 and converted to electric operation in 1910. Line 17 is part of the numbered electric network whose paths have changed as tracks, termini, and construction plans changed.

ZET uses its own fare system. A 30-minute ticket bought before boarding costs €0.53, while the same ticket bought from the driver costs €0.80. The Moj ZET app can sell and validate tickets by QR or NFC. A contactless bank card cannot simply be tapped as an open-loop fare. Validate your ticket after boarding and keep it for inspection. ZET publishes current fares here.

ZET operates a mixed fleet, including modern low-floor, climate-controlled trams and older high-floor cars. The southwest and city-center sections are busy at commuter hours, and Borongaj currently requires a transfer. A specific departure is not guaranteed to be low-floor.

Accessibility varies by vehicle and stop. Low-floor trams improve wheelchair boarding, but older high-floor cars and street-level platforms can still present steps or gaps. Allow extra time at busy road-running stops and watch for traffic when the platform shares space with the street.
