Athens National Garden began in 1839 as the royal palace garden for Queen Amalia, beside what is now the Hellenic Parliament. It is a 19th-century landscape garden with curving paths, dense planting, water features, and old trees.

Use it as shade and history at the same time. The garden links modern Athens, the first decades of the Greek state, Syntagma, Zappeion, and the Panathenaic Stadium. In summer it also gives you a cooler walking route through the center.
