A good half-day or full-day picnic park. The cable car is still marked "temporarily closed" but I was there in May 2026 and the cable line was missing and in bad shape; I think it is done. The last time I rode it the car stopped mid-air for about ten minutes, so this is probably for the best. Use Metro Line 10 instead — Lago drops you next to the lake, Casa de Campo is the east entry, and Batán is the south end near the amusement park. The city zoo is inside the park and has pandas, which is the easy win for a half-day with kids.
Madrid's largest public park at roughly 1,722 hectares, about five times the size of New York's Central Park, west of the Manzanares river and the city center. Holds the Madrid Zoo Aquarium, the Parque de Atracciones amusement park, the Lago de la Casa de Campo, and the upper terminus of the (currently inactive) cable car from Paseo del Pintor Rosales.
Other pins within walking distance of Casa de Campo.
Facilities inside the park, like the environmental center, zoo, and sports/boating facilities, keep their own separate schedules. Your own note about the cable car being effectively defunct in May 2026 is preserved in the review context.

The Casa de Campo is the largest public park in Madrid. It is situated west of central Madrid, Spain. It gets its name 'Country House' because it was once a royal hunting estate, located just west of the Royal Palace of Madrid. It was created in the early 16th century for use by the royal family and nobility, and was opened to the public in 1931 when it became a public park. Today, it is a popular green space and weekend destination for Madrid residents.
