Government House Perth
Perth, Australia
About
Government House is the official residence of the Governor of Western Australia. The present building was completed in 1864 after the colony's earlier residence developed a leaking roof and was judged inadequate. Its gables, towers, and formal frontage occupy a 3.2-hectare domain on St Georges Terrace, surrounded by lawns and mature gardens. The house remains a working vice-regal residence, so casual interior entry is not available. Public tours and interior access are tied to announced events. The gardens have regular limited opening periods, currently listed by the City of Perth as Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 2:00 p.m.
