Hamburg Hauptbahnhof opened in 1906 after the city replaced several older terminal stations with one central through-station. Look up at the train shed: a wide steel-and-glass hall spanning the platforms without interior columns.
That roof makes the station feel like a public industrial room rather than a normal concourse. It also fits Hamburg as a port and rail city, with passengers, commuters, and goods converging near the old center. If you are already using the station, give the hall two minutes before you leave.
