About

Sukiennice still does both of the jobs it has done for centuries. The ground floor is a trading hall lined with souvenir stalls, while the upper floor holds the National Museum's Gallery of 19th-Century Polish Art. The building began as medieval market stalls, gained its Renaissance form after a 1555 fire and was heavily restored in the 1870s. Walking through the arcade is free. the gallery above is ticketed.
