Piazza Navona preserves the long oval footprint of Domitian's stadium, whose remains sit several meters below the current pavement. The shape is easiest to see at the rounded northern end.
Bernini's Fountain of the Four Rivers stands in the center, with the Fountain of Neptune and Fountain of the Moor at either end. Sant'Agnese in Agone and Palazzo Pamphilj face the western side of the square. The piazza is public and remains part of the pedestrian route through central Rome.
